ASA at AutoSkills Europe in Lyon

On Friday 9 October 2026, ASA Strategic Advisor Didier Stevens represented the Automotive Skills Alliance at the AutoSkills Europe seminar in Lyon, France. The event, titled “AutoSkills Europe in the Automotive Services Sector: Driving Youth Mobility with Erasmus+”, brought together more than 100 participants from many countries.

The seminar was co-organised by the French Erasmus+ Agency and ANFA. Founded 75 years ago, ANFA is a French association dedicated to vocational education and training (VET) in the automotive services sector. It coordinates a network of more than 400 VET schools across France and is a member of the Automotive Skills Alliance.

The European automotive landscape in transition

In his presentation, Didier gave an in-depth overview of the European automotive landscape, focusing on the green and digital transition and its challenges, opportunities and market evolution. Much of the talk addressed what these changes mean for the workforce, the skills that will be needed, and how education and training systems must adapt. Didier presented the updated ASA Skills Hub as one of the main practical tools to support this.

Recognising skills through micro-credentials

In the panel discussions, Didier focused on Project AutoCredify, which works on the recognition of skills through micro-credentials. He outlined three priorities:

  • a standards-aligned framework for automotive micro-credentials
  • better training offers that are integrated with VET systems
  • above all, greater recognition and transferability of digital credentials across Europe

ASA thanks ANFA and the French Erasmus+ Agency for the invitation and for organising a valuable exchange on youth mobility and skills in the automotive services sector.
