The Automotive Skills Alliance (ASA) successfully held its annual conference, “Skills (R)Evolution in the Automotive-Mobility Ecosystem,” on April 8, 2025, in Ostrava, Czech Republic. The event brought together 21 expert speakers and over 90 attendees from across Europe – including policymakers, industry leaders, educators, and regional representatives.
This year, the conference focused particularly on the future perspectives of the European automotive-mobility skills agenda, emphasizing the ongoing green and digital transitions. Participants gained insights into various practical actions and initiatives taking place at European, national, and regional levels.
During his welcoming speech, Eduard Muřický, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Czech Republic, said: “The European Automotive sector is under growing pressure. This includes rising competition in China, especially in electric mobility, as well as the new trade barriers in markets, including those in the United States. In this situation, we need to find answers that will strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of the European industry. In such moments, meetings like this conference are extremely important.”
Jakub Stolfa, President of the Automotive Skills Alliance, said: “The transformation is complex, bringing together technological changes, economic and business considerations, green transition, geopolitical shifts, and evolving value chains – all underpinned by social transformation. It requires not only new skills but also innovative approaches to delivering them. It’s crucial that all stakeholders collaborate to take concrete actions. That’s exactly what I value and strive to achieve with the Automotive Skills Alliance – real impacts for workers, companies, and students alike.”
Other key topics addressed at the conference included the European Commission’s Union of Skills framework. Advancing transformation through the TRIREME project, establishment of the Green European vocational education and training (VET) Network, collaboration framework of the FLAMENCO project, the Czech E-mobility Platform, or best practices from the Moravian-Silesian Region.
