Accelerating Skills for the Future of Mobility

– ASA Study Visit in Timișoara

On 12–13 May 2025, the Automotive Skills Alliance organised a study visit in Timișoara, in Romania’s West Development Region. As the automotive sector undergoes rapid transformation, the visit focused on the growing importance of upskilling and cross-sectoral collaboration. Education providers, industry experts, and regional stakeholders came together to exchange experiences, explore best practices, and strengthen efforts to build a skilled and resilient workforce.

During the two-day study visit, participants took part in expert panels, hands-on activities, and company visits designed to bridge the gap between education and industry. The spotlight was on Continental Automotive Romania and FORVIA HELLA, two major players in the region that opened their doors to share how they’re tackling challenges in product development, testing, and innovation.

“This visit gave me concrete examples of how industry needs are evolving and how we, as educators, must adapt our training approaches,” said one participating teacher.

“The behind-the-scenes access to leading factories helped turn abstract concepts into real learning we can bring back to our classrooms,” another attendee shared.

Organised in partnership with Politehnica University of Timișoara and Continental Automotive Romania, the visit offered a rich learning environment focused on skill-building for the future of mobility, with strong alignment to regional and European strategies.

With previous editions held in Stuttgart (2023) and Grand Est (2024), the ASA Study Visits continue to serve as valuable platforms for knowledge exchange, innovation, and practical learning. Timișoara proved once again that when education and industry meet on the ground, the future of mobility becomes clearer—and more achievable.
